Diehl Aviation

The aviation supplier develops leading technologies worldwide: for aircraft cabins, flight control, and military applications, for example. At the ILA 2024, the company will soon showcase its latest innovations and products in multiple exhibition areas. This year, the aviation supplier will primarily focus on avionics, with its high-performance computer platforms, and on sustainability.

Avionic solutions for tomorrow

Diehl Aviation specializes in developing high-performance avionics. With the help of the systems, pilots and crews control and monitor the entire airplane and communicate, for example, with ground stations. At the ILA 2024, Diehl showcases the newest modular computer platforms. They can be used for multiple systems and applications in parallel, and they communicate with each other. At an interactive exhibit, Diehl will demonstrate how the flexible and scalable systems can be used in various aircraft in the future and how this will save space and weight.

Avionics is also a key issue in the development of the Future Combat Air System (FCAS). The requirements are high. FCAS will have a capability spectrum that has never before existed. Giant amounts of data must be processed securely in real time via a combat cloud—and be available for all participants at any time. The processes will be supported by artificial intelligence. At the ILA 2024, Diehl Aerospace will showcase solutions for powerful, reliable computers.

Sustainably in focus

As a leading lightweight specialist in lightweight solutions, Diehl Aviation contributes significantly to the ecologically efficient air travel of tomorrow. At the ILA 2024, the company will present essential products: the latest lightweight solutions that are used in the air taxis of various manufacturers of eVTOLs, for example. Another focus is on ecologically efficient products and solutions for modern passenger aircraft. For example, Diehl is showcasing the revolutionary ECO sidewall at the ILA. By using lightweight construction materials and an innovative design, the sidewall saves around 10 percent in weight compared with the current state of technology. So the carbon footprint in the production stage sinks by 19 percent and the carbon emissions in the airplane by 10 percent. Diehl Aviation's ECO Sidewall recently won the prestigious Crystal Cabin Award.

Diehl Aviation will show how diverse the potential for ecological efficiency in aviation is with its ECO Efficiency Demonstrator. Visitors to the ILA can use the models to get to know solutions that make air travel more sustainable. These include carbon emission reduction technologies, recyclable or bio-based materials, saving weight in various ways, and avoiding production waste.

Diehl Aviation will present most of its exhibits in Booth 210 in Hall 2.

Cabins of the future in future lab

With the “Future Cabin” exhibit in the Future Lab, Diehl Aviation will showcase what is probably one of the most spectacular exhibits of the ILA 2024. The model offers a glimpse into the future of passenger cabins: Window areas are fully rethought, and some are replaced by displays. Bionic construction—inspired by nature—with recyclable materials lets us save weight while meeting the highest design standards. And the cabin will be smart: Diehl Aviation relies on consistent digitization to better plan the consumption of energy and water, simplify repair and maintenance, increase passenger comfort, support the crew operations, and more.

The Future Cabin can be found in the ILA Future Lab of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) in Hall 2, Booth 220.

Technologies for the German armed forces made by Diehl

Diehl Aerospace is a specialized supplier for the German armed forces and delivers key components, including those for cockpit and display systems, aircraft control, and utility systems. At the ILA 2024, the company will showcase a number of exhibits at the NH90, Tornado, and Tiger platforms—up close and hands-on. As part of the armaments industry, Diehl Aerospace makes sure the German armed forces are supplied and ready for operations by providing maintenance, repair work, and other services.

The exhibits can be seen in the Military Support Center in Hall 3.

Company presentation in the Talent Hub

Diehl Aviation will also present itself as an employer in the Talent Lounge of ILA 2024. From June 7 to 9, 2024, young talent can talk with colleagues at the Diehl booth, learn about possibilities for career opportunities, and ask questions about the company. Diehl Aviation's HR experts will be available until the last day of the ILA, June 9, 2024.

Diehl Aviation can be found in Hall 6 in the Talent Lounge or Hall 2, Booth 210.
