From June 14 to 16, 2022, Diehl Aviation, a leading supplier of cabin interiors and systems for the aviation industry, will present its current product and services portfolio and its extensive innovations at the Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, Germany.

At Aircraft Interiors Expo, the world's leading trade show for the aircraft cabin, international exhibitors will showcase their latest innovations, technologies, and products from June 14 to 16, 2022. Diehl Aviation will present its current highlights again in Hall B7 at Booth 7D20 and goes full speed ahead. This year Diehl will focus on eco-efficient products, the advancing digitalization towards the smart cabin, innovative upgrade solutions, and the latest developments for electric air taxis.

For climate-neutral aviation

Diehl Aviation considers itself an enabler in sustainable flying. This year, the company demonstrates this with several eco-efficient product innovations for aircraft cabins. As an example, Diehl developed air outlets made of foam granulate and air ducts made of particle foam, i.e., thermoplastics. They generate less CO2 during production and reduce fuel consumption due to their low weight. In addition, they are characterized by a very fast production, low manufacturing costs as well as improved recycling.

Diehl Aviation shows the 16G Partition, a 15 percent weight-reduced partition with high stability that easily integrates into various aircraft types. The powder coating developed by Diehl Aviation is an eco-efficient, lightweight decor solution for customers. The solid color powder coating provides highly durable cabin surfaces. And with the Grey Water Reuse Unit, an eco-efficient system has been developed that reduces freshwater consumption on board and thus contributes significantly to weight reduction. In 2021, Diehl Aviation's Grey Water Reuse Unit already won the Crystal Cabin Award in the category Greener Cabin, Health, Safety & Environment!

IMAGINE - smart cabin solutions

The cabin digitalization also continues to make progress. Diehl will show the latest development of CANSAS, a central platform for all functions in the cabin, from smart boarding to controlling projections and cabin lighting. For the first time, Diehl will showcase the functionality of its latest digital solution live at the expo. Convenient solutions such as quickly available storage space and easy-to-close overhead bins supplement smart innovations. The new, virtually touchless onboard lavatory is as smart and efficient. Diehl Aviation serves the increased demand for more hygiene and comfort in the lavatory.

New product: Emergency oxygen generator

A new upgrade solution that Diehl Aviation is using to expand its product portfolio is the new universal oxygen generator (UO₂G). Intended for the emergency oxygen supply to passengers, Diehl Aviation developed the entire generator. It can be easily integrated into the existing oxygen boxes above the seats. The product is suitable for all aircraft models of the Airbus A320 family and also for all models of the Boeing 737 series.

Expertise in fully electric air taxis

As a pioneer of innovative cabin interiors and active electronic controls, Diehl Aviation also has the knowledge and manufacturing expertise for various components and systems for electric air taxis of the future. Moreover, Diehl’s own solution demonstrates how lightweight construction, the highest safety standards, and special passenger comfort accompany a pleasant flight experience. Visitors will be able to experience first-hand what this looks like at the expo booth by taking a look at a model of an air taxi.

In the final round: Smart Lock Door as a CCA finalist

Diehl Aviation's strategy of focusing on customers and their needs when developing new innovative products is paying off: The need arose for crews of airline customers to securely store their handheld control devices onboard within sight while charging them and also being able to operate them at any time via an open user interface. For this purpose, Diehl Aviation developed a Smart Lock Door, a finalist in the Materials and Components category of this year's Crystal Cabin Award (CCA). Each year, the award is presented during the Aircraft Interiors Expo for outstanding cabin products and concepts.

Strategic cooperation with HAECO

HAECO Cabin Solutions (HCS) and Diehl Aviation entered into a strategic cooperation in order to offer their joint customers an integrative product portfolio with individualized solutions for aircraft cabin interiors. Thus, both companies can support their customers even better together. Jointly with HCS, Diehl Aviation will further expand its position in the market for cabin upgrade solutions. Both partners will therefore also showcase their cooperative solutions at this year's AIX.
