The company celebrates its milestone jointly with distinguished guests from Hungarian state and local politics and the Diehl Group’s top management.
In 2011, Diehl Aviation founded its subsidiary Diehl Aviation Hungary Kft, based in Nyírbátor, Hungary. The company looks back on ten successful years in a ceremony to which representatives of the Hungarian government, partners of the company in Hungary, and representatives of the Diehl Group’s top management are invited. Diehl sees its subsidiary in Hungary as an essential part of the further development of Diehl Aviation.
Diehl reviews the efforts of the Hungarian employees to date and the impressive growth on-site in Nyírbátor with pride. Since the start of production in 2012, the capacity was expanded with a second hall just three years later. The establishment of another site in Debrecen followed in 2017 and the construction of a logistics hall in 2018. Now, the company successfully finished the construction of a third production hall which will be placed into operation in June 2022.
By founding the site in Debrecen, Diehl Aviation has further expanded the activities of its Hungarian subsidiary. Today, around 150 employees in Debrecen complement the company's production activities with development work and administrative activities.
When setting up its activities in Hungary, Diehl was able to rely on a good and open relationship with the municipality of Nyírbátor, the Hungarian government, and the Hungarian Investment Promotion Agency (HIPA). This created a close partnership, which Diehl Aviation greatly appreciates.
Along with the production facilities, by today, the number of employees has also grown to roughly 900 at the two sites in Nyírbátor and Debrecen. Consequently, Nyírbátor is now Diehl Aviation's second-largest site in terms of personnel.
In an area of over 14,000 square meters, the company produces side walls, door frames and their insulation, air-conditioning duct components, and onboard lavatories for single-aisle aircraft at its Nyírbátor site.
This established another production line for onboard lavatories in addition to the company’s site in Hamburg. Diehl considers itself well positioned for the coming ramp-up of single-aisle production.
Since 2020 Diehl Aviation has also been using autoclaves at its Nyírbátor site and at its German headquarters in Laupheim to produce complex lightweight components for the cabin lining and air-conditioning ducts in the aircraft cabin. This is how the lightweight specialist saves weight on its components and also increases their strength.
"Steady and stable growth characterize the development of our sites in Hungary. We have continuously increased the number of our employees and local capabilities and plan to continue doing so in the next five years," emphasizes Dr. Klaus Richter, CEO of the Diehl Group and Interim CEO of Diehl Aviation. He adds, "Within a decade, our Hungarian subsidiary has become a significant part of Diehl Aviation. We are very proud of what our Hungarian colleagues have achieved up to now!"
