Representatives of Diehl Aviation and Skyways Technics HU Kft. recently signed an agreement at Diehl Aviation Hungary in Nyírbátor: The two companies will cooperate in the maintenance of aircraft structural components, in which Diehl Aviation's autoclaves play a central role.
Skyways Technics Hungarian facility specializes in the maintenance, repair and supply of aircraft parts, including the repair of radomes. These radomes are sensitive components that are subject to particular stresses from environmental influences such as hail or bird strikes. Although such damage typically does not affect the operability of the aircraft, it often requires regular maintenance.
Radomes, made of nearly 30 layers of laminated prepreg material in a honeycomb structure, require special autoclave ovens to harden. Diehl Aviation will provide Skyways Technics with access to its two autoclaves in Nyírbátor and support with the necessary know-how. All steps in the entire repair process can be carried out practically on site between the Hungarian locations of Debrecen and Nyírbátor.
