Fans

Fans are essential. They provide passengers and crew with pleasant air and cool avionics components. Diehl Aviation is a global market leader, and virtually no Airbus aircraft operate without Diehl fans.

Key features

Range: Diehl Aviation offers fans with a wide range of performance levels and control options, including analogue and smart control. The company is one of only a few suppliers worldwide to offer this variety, enabling it to meet the specific requirements of each customer and provide customised features.

Innovative Strength: Diehl Aviation's latest fans are intelligent and recognise the optimal operating point, adjusting their performance accordingly. These smart features significantly increase energy efficiency and enable predictive health monitoring.

Durability: The fans are extremely robust and have a lifespan almost equal to that of an aircraft, which reduces maintenance and repair costs significantly.

Air Refrigeration Unit (ARU)

In many places, the cooling technology on board dates back to the 1970s, making it inefficient, heavy and energy-intensive. Diehl Aviation's Air Refrigeration Unit (ARU) is a modern solution that is lighter, more efficient and smarter. This improves sustainability and passenger comfort during flight operations.

Key advantages

Efficiency: Medium-range aircraft typically carry up to six trolleys per galley. Until now, this required several cooling units in the galley. However, the ARU can cool up to six trolleys in a small space thanks to its particularly high power density.

Intelligent operation: The ARU automatically adjusts its output according to demand. If trolleys need to be cooled at the start of the flight, the ARU releases the necessary cooling energy. Once the target temperature is reached, less energy is consumed.

Maintenance: Previously, cooling units were installed above the cabin ceiling or under the floor and connected to the trolleys via air ducts. The effort involved in initial integration, line fitting and maintenance and repair is considerable. Thanks to its small size, the ARU can be installed in an area of the galley that was previously unused.

Lightweight: Diehl Aviation's cooling unit is up to a third lighter than competing products, helping to reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions.

Retrofittability: Depending on the galley's specific design, the ARU can be retrofitted into existing aircraft.
