Dr. Klaus Richter was appointed new President of the Executive Board
The shareholders and the Supervisory Board appointed Dr. Klaus Richter (56) as new President of the Executive Board of the Diehl Verwaltungs-Stiftung with effect from August 1, 2021.
Dr. Richter studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich and subsequently did his doctorate there. After a research grant at the University of California at Berkeley, he started his career in 1993 at the consultancy company McKinsey. In 2003, Dr. Richter switched to BMW in order to take over responsibility for the direct purchasing department of the automotive company with approx. € 25 billion purchasing volume. In 2007, the change to the aviation sector to Airbus took place. At Airbus, Dr. Klaus Richter was initially responsible for the global procurement as well as supply chain operations of Airbus Commercial Aircraft S.A.S as Executive Vice President Procurement and was appointed Airbus Group Chief Procurement Officer and Chairman of the board of management of Airbus Operations GmbH in 2015. In this function, he was also member of the entire Airbus Group Executive Committee and took the responsibility of a purchasing volume of about € 50 billion per year. In addition, Dr. Richter was Chairman of the Supervisory Board at Premium Aerotech GmbH.
On top of his duties at Airbus, Dr. Richter was member of the Presidium at the German Aerospace Industry Association (Bundesverband der deutschen Luft- und Raumfahrtindustrie e.V. - BDLI) and its President as of 2017. Since he left Airbus in 2019, Dr. Richter has been working as independent management consultant and he is member of different Supervisory and Advisory Boards of renowned aviation companies. Dr. Richter is married and has two children, aged 22 and 24.
With Dr. Richter, the technology company Diehl was able to win an outstanding and internationally renowned leadership personality as President of the Executive Board and is looking forward to a successful cooperation.
