Diehl Defence, a leading player in the defence industry, will exhibit at LAAD, the largest and most important Latin American Defense and Security Exhibition.

The exhibition will take place at Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from April 11 to 14 this year. The Diehl Defence fair team is looking forward to welcoming you at booth number L51 in hall 3, where the respective product experts are available for discussions.

Diehl Defence has been a competent partner of the German and international armed forces for decades and has become a leading system house in the field of air defence systems and guided missiles. The product range covers system solutions for air defence and comprises guided missiles, medium- and large-caliber ammunition for army, air force and navy, but also systems for surveillance, protection and training in military use.

As part of its worldwide presence, Diehl Defence maintains long-term relationships with industrial partners in customer countries to strengthen its system and equipment competence. In its long-lasting cooperation with the Brazilian partner AEL Sistemas, in particular in the field of ground-based air defence (GBAD) with the systems IRIS-T SLS, SLM and SLX, both companies work together to provide a solution to the Brazilian Armed Forces – not only with the best hardware in the market, but also with integrated logistics support directly in Brazil and with the participation of the Brazilian industry.

At LAAD, Diehl Defence will exhibit models of the combat proven ground-based air defence (GBAD) system IRIS-T SLM (medium-range) and SLS (short-range). The system consists of the components missile launcher, multifunctional radar and TOC (tactical operations center). The modular system, which is currently in operation in an area of conflict, offers 360° protection of areas as well as high-value targets and other critical infrastructures.Additionally, a 1:1 model of the IRIS-T SL surface-to-air missile, as used in the IRIS-T SLM GBAD system, is on display.

Furthermore, the HPEM SkyWolf C-UAS effector will be part of Diehl Defence’s product portfolio at LAAD. High-Power Electromagnetic (HPEM) systems from Diehl Defence are designed to counter threats from the air, by interfering with the control electronics inside unmanned aerial systems through short electromagnetic pulses. HPEM systems provide excellent defence capabilities for the protection of public events or ground infrastructure, such as settlements, military camps, transportation and industrial facilities.

On display is a 1:12 scale GUARDION for GBAD effector vehicle. In GUARDION for GBAD, the drone defense system is mounted on trucks and consists of one main vehicle with detection and HPEM SkyWolf effector as well as three additional effector-only vehicles. The system setup was developed to achieve 360° protection of the radar of an IRIS-T SLM fire unit from sUAS (small unmanned aerial vehicles) attacks.

Beyond that, Diehl Defence’s flagship IRIS-T air-to-air missile, which is in service with 12 air forces worldwide on platforms such as the SAAB Gripen, Eurofighter, EF-18, F-16, Tornado and F-5, will be exhibited.
