Earlier this month, Diehl Metering provided German students with a virtual glimpse of working life at the company as part of the “Praxistage”, an annual event designed to offer students practical experience. For the first time in its 10-year history, the event went digital – but the concept remained the same: the purpose was to unite students from 14 universities in Germany’s biggest region of Bavaria with companies looking to recruit young talent.

Praxistage is organized by the University of Applied Sciences in Nuremberg (Technische Hochschule Nürnberg Georg Simon Ohm) and, usually, the Diehl Metering HR department in Germany welcome students at the company to offer a day of practical experience to students of engineering, computer science, economics and social sciences. This year, some 23 students were treated to an exclusive digital day behind-the-scenes at Diehl Metering.

Participants learned about key challenges affecting the industry and how Diehl Metering is addressing them, including a session on “Megatrends & Innovation Management @ Diehl Metering”. They were taken on a digital production tour and invited to take part in “active break” sessions. There was also a chance to network with staff and other students in a round-table discussion – and to hear insider tips on how to start and succeed a career at Diehl Metering.

Through the event, the students were able to get a good understanding of what it’s like to work at Diehl Metering, while also expanding their network and their horizons for the future.
