Ever since 2007, it has been awarded 5 stars for measurement stability by independent tester AGFW. The tests are designed to put meters through their paces, assessing them according to multiple criteria. The top score, achieved by the SHARKY, is a guarantee of quality and reliability.
The AGFW is a neutral and independent energy efficiency association for heating, cooling, and combined heat and power. For 40 years, it has promoted the development of high-quality heating and cooling in Germany and Europe. As an industry forerunner, it co-edits the professional journal “EuroHeat&Power” and counts over 500 DHC and industrial companies among its members. The AGFW test programme is recognised as an international benchmark for the metering sector.
Exhaustive evaluation
During testing, the SHARKY is put under intense scrutiny as it undergoes the AGFW’s heating meter test. Through a comprehensive series of assessments, every aspect of the meter is evaluated, from measurement accuracy and stability to reparability of usual or new flow sensors.
The AGFW test has become even more important since the EU created its European Measuring Instruments Directive (RK 2014/32/EU, short: MID). Implemented in 2014, MID sets required standards for metering. However, it does not enforce long-term testing for heat meters. This means the AGFW test is the only means of comparing durability data between different meters in the future.
Fully-approved accuracy
In the latest AGFW test, completed in December 2018, SHARKY once again achieved 5 out of 5 stars for measurement stability and also obtained the top score for measurement accuracy thanks to its precise ultrasonic technology. The meter provides an extremely reliable solution for measuring both small and large quantities, with selected nominal sizes in the dynamic range 1:250. It can also handle a temperature range of 5°C to 150°C, making it suitable for heating and cooling.
In addition, the meter was successfully put through a stress test at 50°C and 70°C to display measuring curves and deviations at both temperatures. The tests also showed that SHARKY maintained excellent measuring accuracy even after 4,800 hours of use.
To mark the high standards achieved by the meter, the AGFW awarded a special graphic seal to Diehl Metering– a seal of approval that sets SHARKY apart.
Complete metering solution
The long-term stability of SHARKY is a testament to Diehl Metering’s commitment to quality. By providing solutions that stand the test of time, the company helps customers to achieve long-term profitable added value.
As one of the most complete meters on the market, SHARKY provides utilities with a solid foundation for the future. It transmits the forward and return temperature, flow rate, current output, energy consumption and alarm messages by radio or wired on an ongoing basis, providing a solid foundation for increased efficiency. In a Diehl Metering Fixed Network, these readings are automatically taken several times per hour and analysed using IZAR PLUS Portal / IZAR@NET 2 Meter Data Management software. The in-depth analysis helps customers to improve their distribution network and increase cost efficiency.
SHARKY is about to undergo its next AGFW inspection, with the results set to be released this autumn. It is expected to once again obtain 5 stars.
