Legislation on measurements and measuring instruments is required when there is a need to protect both buyer and seller in a commercial transaction. All countries provide such protection by including metrology in their legislation – hence the term “legal metrology”.
In all Member States of the European Union, harmonized aspects of legal metrology are in the Measuring Instruments Directive 2014/32/EU, known as MID.
In 2023, all our Diehl Metering production sites worldwide were audited for certification in legal metrology according to MID.
The overall outcome of the audit was positive, proving that Diehl Metering keep to regulatory standards and quality policies. All plants have fully implemented the standardization of the system, backed up by the successful use of common tools. Technical corporate instructions are available, and technical documentation is regularly updated as needed. As a result, the company provides full customer satisfaction by delivering instruments that not only meet regulatory requirements, but also comply with its quality policy.
The audit further highlighted the company's outstanding commitment to quality, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. Numerous strengths reinforce this commitment, including a successful track record in obtaining MID approval for all plants, multiple certifications across various facilities, and the Team’s flexible approach to addressing challenges. The organization's emphasis on detail is evident through its comprehensive process descriptions and the efficient use of the metrology cockpit. The management review reports, together with frequent quality meetings, confirm a proactive approach to governance and collaboration. The company's open communication culture can be seen through its sharing of technical problems as well as the meticulous management of test benches. These strengths demonstrate a strong dedication to meeting regulatory requirements and showcase a holistic approach to quality excellence and customer satisfaction.
To ensure our presence on different markets and sell our meters around the world we ensure our system compliance with the appropriate national legal metrology of each country, e.g., UK, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, or Australia and confirm it by relevant certificates.
