When Diehl Metering established an office in Dubai in 2006, the team was made up of 2 people handling a small budget. Today, the subsidiary, known as Diehl Metering FZE (Free Zone Company), employs 18 people and manages over €50 million in revenue.
The team’s expertise covers account management, sales, technical support, and finance for the 70 countries that they serve. This includes the Middle East, Africa, Turkey, India and Pakistan. The main customers are water utilities, District Cooling utilities, developers and contractors.
One of defining characteristics of the team is the diversity of nationalities. It may only be 18-strong, but the staff has representatives from the Philippines, India, the Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, Germany, France, and Mexico. “We are possibly the most multicultural region within Diehl Metering”, says Jairo Rojas, Vice President in charge of the development of this region.
Flagship successes
Since 2006, the team has supplied around 3 million HYDRUS water meters and 100 thousand SHARKY meters to their customers. It has also delivered several state-of-the-art projects for water supply, district cooling and geothermal energy.
In Dubai, the subsidiary worked with the Emirates’ leading supplier of District Cooling Systems to establish an innovative M-BUS fixed network, aggregating data and automating readings from meters made by multiple manufacturers. In Saudi Arabia, it delivered one of the country’s largest smart metering infrastructures to minimise non-revenue water and meet customers’ high expectations.
“Our success has always been down to the passion and motivation of our teams”, explains Jairo Rojas. “It’s through their outstanding support and service that we exceed customer expectations.”
Office expansion
Today, the subsidiary has representatives in Saint-Louis, France and Ansbach, Germany. And the team based in Dubai continues to grow. Following outstanding performance in 2019, several new recruitments were made over the last year. To accommodate the growing team, new premises were acquired at the beginning of 2020 in the same building as the existing office.
Located on the 24th floor of JAFZA View 18, the new office will house the region’s Communication, Sales and Business Development divisions. Thanks to the move, the team is well-equipped to improve sales support, expand claims management and further support increasing market penetration. The new offices promise to ensure plenty of new growth!
