Diehl Metering and its local partner Faso General Technology (FGT) are supporting the National Water and Sanitation Office (ONEA) in Burkina Faso to improve water management with advanced manual data consumption reading
ONEA is the water distribution management utility in Burkina Faso. It provides drinking water and improves the country’s network system.
To provide better efficiency for accuracy measurements and automatic data transfers, the oldest material used by ONEA had to be replaced.
To read the water meters, the readers must move 15-20 kilos of concrete cover at least 250 times a day. Additionally, the bills distributed are from the previous month, so ONEA needed a material that is light, handy and easy to use.
Diehl Metering’s solution demonstrated its ability to the utility and was chosen based on the solution that combines hardware, software and services to gradually implement new manual reading.
It concerns a minimum of 50,000 consumers’ subscribers per water management centre throughout Burkina Faso. Until six months, ONEA is equipping this fourteen centre with 150 IZAR Handheld Android including IZAR@Mobile, as well as IZAR@Interface 2 software.
IZAR@Interface 2 is a software developed by Diehl Metering to interface with third-party software (business software, billing software, etc.). With the help of this feature, twice a month, each centre in Burkina collects indexes and reports linked to its billing software from ONEA’s Office in Ouagadougou.
IZAR Handheld and IZAR@Mobile combination offers the utility benefits with no dual database management, automatic data transfer, high performance and robustness. The utility can also install a mobile reading solution (Walk-by, Drive-by) at any time.
