Career at Diehl Defence – this is how the start succeeds!

What did your way to Diehl as employer look like?
M. Budnick: "After 15 years at the German Bundeswehr it was clear that it is time for something new. The starting signal were my studies of industrial engineering in 2019 which I am still dedicating myself to. I became aware of Diehl Defence thanks to friends. After the first contact, I did a three-month trial internship and I have been employed as project manager for air defence systems since October 1, 2021."

"My military expertise helps me to progress."

Which roles do you take on in your current position at Diehl Defence?
M. Budnick: "Having worked at the German Bundeswehr has taught me to not only understand the needs of the armed forces but, also the industry. This is why I act as intermediary in my projects: I mediate between the Bundeswehr and our engineers, translate the requirements, demands and progresses and even formulate them clearer."

"We are all team players who love their jobs."

What type of person can be successful at Diehl Defence?
M. Budnick: "To make a long story short: everybody. Everybody is welcome, no matter where he or she comes from, what he or she believes in or whom he or she is in love with. The fact is: Diverse teams render a company unique. Different skills and opinions shape the culture, give new impulses and make innovations possible in the first place."

Working in touch with tradition and future. On principle: team spirit!

What makes Diehl different from other employers or what makes Diehl even better than other employers?
M. Budnick
: "Diehl shows appreciation. I will give you an example: Our CEO, Mr. Rauch, asked for a meeting shortly after I started, because he wanted to know how well I had settled in. For me, this is a sign of pure appreciation. Within our team, we have open and constructive dialogues. A prerequisite for this are confidence and respect."
