Contribution to RedCabin’s “Aircraft Cabin Innovation Summit” demonstrates initiation of increased effort into product innovation

Diehl Aviation has started to intensify work on new cabin interiors products and the introduction of product innovation results into the market. Helge Sachs, Diehl Aviation’s Senior Vice President Product Innovation is leading this effort and is presenting the company’s intentions at the “RedCabin Aircraft Cabin Innovation Summit”, hosted by Boeing, and taking place at the Museum of Flight in Seattle (USA), June 4th – 6th 2019. At this conference, the “Skypax” densification solution, optimizing the use of space at the rear end of single-aisle aircraft, is presented as recent example of Diehl’s product innovation achievements. “Skypax” most recently won the German Innovation Award, honouring its innovation achievements.

In order to boost its capabilities in the field of innovation even more in the future, Diehl Aviation has initiated an “Innovation Roadmap”. This new approach brings various advantages to the company: It combines effectively the operational business with a defined innovation strategy; it connects innovation projects with market requirements and technologies; it identifies relevant future technologies as well as competences and resources; it allows transparent monitoring and maturity controlling of innovation projects; and it facilitates inhouse coordination of functions like sales, engineering and production.

Diehl Aviation’s “Innovation Roadmap” is pursuing insights into market requirements, available technologies and eventually products that the company can offer on the market successfully. The “Innovation Roadmap” is looking at these aspects from several perspectives: commercially and strategically; in terms of design, development and production; and from a technology and research point of view.

Milestones will be passed and results will be achieved for various business fields, products and services over various timelines. Diehl Aviation will continuously present and exhibit results of its “Innovation Roadmap” at expo and industry events over the years and across the globe, starting with Aircraft Interiors Expo Americas in Los Angeles on September 10th to 12th.
