A trainee of the Laupheim-based aviation supplier Diehl Aviation has graduated as the best in his field in Germany this year. In a festive award ceremony at the Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) on November 10, 2023, Florian Günther was initially honored by the IHK Ulm as the state's best trainee. Mid-December will see him receive the award for the nationwide best trainee in his field in Berlin.
The 21-year-old began his training as a plastics and rubber technology process mechanic specializing in fiber composite technology at Diehl Aviation in Laupheim three years ago. Florian Günther says: "A good friend of mine had completed the same training at Diehl and he was extremely enthusiastic about it. That's why I decided to go ahead with it - and I'm still very happy to this day."
Every year, Diehl Aviation offers around 20 new trainees the chance to embark on their training at the Laupheim site. About 110 young talents throughout Germany are currently completing their professional training at Diehl Aviation. Carolin Wendel, Head of Human Resources at Diehl Aviation states: " At Diehl Aviation, training and promoting young talent is a top priority. We are noticing the increasing shortage of skilled workers. By providing an outstanding training program, we support young individuals in their personal and professional development from an early stage. At the same time, we encourage the professionals of tomorrow to join our company today. This is an investment both in the future of these talented young people and in the long-term competitiveness of our company."
Employees are being offered prospects throughout their entire career. The range includes language courses and advanced training in aviation law, as well as the opportunity to become a master craftsman after training or to further qualify as a technical specialist or business administrator, for example. Daniel Seefelder, training instructor at Diehl Aviation in Laupheim, says: "With us, many things are possible. For instance, we have had trainees who have completed their technical college entrance qualification while working and then started a dual study program at Diehl. We also support full-time professional development by guaranteeing re-employment for these employees once they have completed their training."
Florian Günther also plans to take advantage of these opportunities and start an advanced training program in the next year: "I've still got to decide which one exactly. Right now I am really focused on getting started with my career. I'm definitely looking forward to that!"
