  • Controlling the Cabin 

    The Cabin Management System (CMS) provides the interface for the cabin crew to monitor and control all aircraft functions related to the cabin. This includes cabin illumination, passenger signs and passenger calls, galley and lavatory controls and the cabin intercommunication devices. 

    The cabin management system usually interfaces as well with the fire protection and water waste systems. The innovative approach of Diehl Aerospace is a distributed architecture for modern cabin management systems, which is highly modular and scalable. It features a number of similar devices - the "Input / Output Distribution Node" (IODN) - to build the CMS backbone. 

    In addition, powerful tools for adaptation and configuration of the CMS are provided.

    • Input / Output Distribution Node

      The Cabin Management System of Diehl Aerospace is built from a number of Input / Output Distribution Nodes (IODN). 

      Connected in a ring topology the IODNs provide a highly reliable communication backbone that interfaces with all cabin functions. There is no central processing device required in addition to the IODNs. Due to the distributed system architecture the number of interfaces and the available processing power is very flexible and scalable. 

      The capabilities of the CMS can be adapted simply by changing the number of IODNs in the aircraft.


      • Flight Attendant Panel 

        The Flight Attendant Panel is the main interface of the Cabin Management System to the crew. The Flight Attendants use it to determine the status of the system and to control functions suchas illumination or passenger signs. 

        In the distributed architecture of Diehl Aerospace a Flight Attendant Panel is simply one Input / Output Distribution Node (IODN) with a touchscreen connected to it. Due to this modular approach, the CMS of Diehl Aerospace guarantees minimum maintenance and minimum life time cost and a high reliabiliy.
