As part of an organizational evolution to be more customer-focused, Diehl Metering has named Jean-Claude Luttringer as its new Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Division Board member. An experienced leader and manager, he will oversee the development of technical solutions and adapted services to answer customers’ evolving needs.

Since 2019, Diehl Metering has increasingly adopted a more functional organization with uniform processes. The aim is to create high-quality technical products and solutions enabling our customers to have a single source for all their needs.

Today, the metering industry is being driven by external factors known as the “4Ds” – decarbonization, digitization, decentralization and demographics. Utilities of all sizes are under increasing pressure to optimize their operational performance through cutting-edge tools such as leak detection and consumption forecasts. At Diehl Metering, we want to provide customers with the very best tools in this area – and we are actively working on becoming a single source of support for them by offering relevant consulting skills and data analysis. The creation of the new COO function is part of this strategy.

Jean-Claude Luttringer has assumed his responsibilities as COO on the Division Board from August 1, 2022. His role will be to adapt our operations and supply chain organization to our globalization challenges. This will allow us to focus on our major objectives of penetrating new markets, time to market and cost reduction.

Jean-Claude Luttringer joined the company back in 1988. After studying production management at the University Institute of Technology in Mulhouse, France, he worked in chemical plant engineering and for a young Canadian company specialized in satellite reception. At Diehl Metering, he has worked tirelessly to develop and improve work methods, keeping people at the heart of everything we do. Over the years, his responsibilities grew to cover logistics and strategic purchasing, and he helped found the industrialization department. In 2016, he became CTO (Chief Technical Officer) for Diehl Metering France, and in 2019, he was appointed VP Solution Supply responsible for Operations, Supply Chain and Industrialization for the entire Metering division.

As COO, he will bring his expertise in the areas of leadership and entrepreneurship. Recent events such as repeated heatwaves and droughts have reminded us how essential it is to optimize the way we manage water and energy resources. “It has become clear that we urgently need to decarbonize our energy systems”, says Jean-Claude Luttringer, “and that requires better energy management and adapted networks. These are two crucial areas where Diehl Metering can provide technical solutions and adapted services. I am confident in our ability to succeed and I’m also very proud to be part of the solution for preserving our planet’s resources."
