New UBA List Published – eZeebrass listed

Diehl Metall marks an important milestone with the inclusion of eZeebrass in the UBA positive list, further strengthening the future of lead-free brass alloys in drinking water applications.

Diehl Metall

The material eZeebrass (CuZn41Mg, CW732R, C49400), developed by Diehl Metall, is now listed on the German Federal Environment Agency’s (UBA) national positive list for metallic materials in contact with drinking water. With the publication of the sixth amendment of recasting as at August 21, 2025, eZeebrass has been formally recognized as a material suitable for drinking water hygiene.

Significance for practice

Inclusion in the UBA positive list is a prerequisite for manufacturers and users to be able to use eZeebrass in drinking water installations. The successful listing underscores the high quality and safety of Diehl Metall’s lead-free copper-zinc-magnesium alloy.

Next step: European recognition

The procedure for including eZeebrass in the “4 Member States Initiative” (4MSI) has already been started. This will ensure that the material is also confirmed as suitable for drinking water hygiene at the European level. “With the official inclusion of eZeebrass in the UBA positive list, we have achieved another milestone for the future of lead-free brass alloys,” says Dr. Volker Bräutigam, Head of Business Development at Diehl Brass Solutions. “This is an important step toward ensuring the highest quality and hygiene standards in drinking water installations.”
