At the beginning of 2024, Dr. Nicolai Künzner was appointed member of the Diehl Defence Division Board and took over the role as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Diehl Defence GmbH & Co. KG at the same time.
He assumes both roles as successor of Frank Kienzler who retired for reasons of age. Dr. Künzner is now responsible for the areas development, production, supply chain management and innovation & product compliance.
In 2004, Dr. Nicolai Künzner joined the former Diehl Munitionssysteme GmbH & Co. KG after finishing his studies in physics and a subsequent doctorate at TU Munich. After holding executive functions as head of expert teams and centers of competence, he was responsible for the management of the development department at Diehl Defence GmbH & Co. KG as of 2020.
By concentrating the defence business in the lead company Diehl Defence within the Diehl Group, a four-person body was appointed as managing board. As of January 1, 2024, the Diehl Defence Division Board is set up as follows:
