The combat-proven system IRIS-T SLM will protect the civilian population, the armed forces and critical infrastructure from airborne threats, thus closing a capability gap.
Helmut Rauch, Diehl Defence CEO, said: "We are proud to have won Denmark as a further IRIS-T SLM customer and to be able to support the Danish Armed Forces in their missions to protect the Danish population. We look forward to working together and making Europe safer."
This procurement is also carried out via the 'European Sky Shield Initiative' standard agreement, which enables an accelerated and unbureaucratic process. After Germany, Estonia, Latvia, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Sweden and Switzerland, Denmark is the eighth ESSI customer to opt for the Diehl Defence air defence solution. The constant expansion of the ESSI user nations and their joint procurement results in strong synergies, e.g. in the form of joint exercises and training as well as cooperation in the area of maintenance and logistics between the allied nations.
