Background to the 33rd annual CWWA 2024 conference

Rising sea levels are increasingly threatening freshwater resources. The vulnerability of water salinity is becoming a major concern. Frequent droughts destabilize water supplies, and their interaction with violent storms further complicates the situation. Sanitation infrastructures are also under constant threat from these extreme weather phenomena. It is therefore essential that all stakeholders work together to find sustainable solutions.

Innovating solutions for Caribbean water challenges

To address these key challenges, Trinidad and Tobago is hosting the 33rd annual conference and exhibition of the Caribbean Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA) from October 21 to 25, 2024.

The Caribbean Association was founded by an Act of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago in 1991. It is a regional non-governmental organization. It brings together water and sanitation professionals from the public and private sectors.

The CWWA focuses on the following aspects:

  • Managing water resources
  • Protecting public health
  • Promoting sustainable development

A prestigious location for water management

Hosted in 2016 for its 25th edition, this year's event will take place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Port of Spain. It is organized under the aegis of the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Services. The aim is to bring together experts, policy-makers and innovators from the sector. They will propose viable and innovative solutions to improve water management.
