Diehl Controls Presents Smart Home Applications

Diehl Controls, Connectivity Solutions

The theme world “SMARTer Living” (German: SMARTer leben), in which Diehl Controls is participating, shows visitors to JOSEPHS® in Nuremberg intelligent technology solutions for everyday life.

Nuremberg. – What can a smart home do and what should it look like? This is a question which interests many people and yet which developers, architects or users have different answers to. What expectations are placed on the technology? And no less important: Which fears are connected with various applications? Intelligent technology solutions for everyday life have been on the agenda for more than 50 years now at Diehl Controls, the world’s leading developer and manufacturer of display, control and drive systems. Particularly the development of innovative energy management and connectivity solutions for the smart home currently form a focus of activities. To familiarize future users early on with the possibilities offered by new products, Diehl Controls is presenting itself at the theme world “SMARTer Living” in the Nuremberg-based innovation laboratory JOSEPHS®.

“JOSEPHS® – The Service Manufactory” is an open innovation laboratory at the heart of Nuremberg which offers changing theme worlds. Here, visitors are given the opportunity to test current developments on site and to put forward suggestions to the developers. JOSEPHS® is a project of the Fraunhofer task force for Supply Chain Services SCS and is being carried out in cooperation with the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg. The project is being funded by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs and Media, Energy and Technology.

Diehl Controls is using this innovative platform to address end customers directly and to ask for their opinion. At JOSEPHS®, two test systems have been installed to assist visitors in experiencing smart home applications themselves. Besides the Diehl Controls Smart Eco System for controlling various smart applications, the HomeRUN platform of the partner company Rockethome can likewise be tested using a tablet PC. After the test, the visitors can participate in a survey to assess the user friendliness of the technology before evaluating the preferred application fields – energy management, comfort or security – on a voting wall. The results of these surveys flow directly into improving the products of Diehl Controls. Besides this, participation in this theme world generates initial contact to potential customers who are interested in smart home solutions.

Anyone wishing to find out more is welcome to test the theme world “SMARTer Living” at JOSEPHS® until the end of January 2016.
