Tradition will be continued: Scrap turned into art

Diehl Metall

Art exhibition of the Geschwister-Scholl grammar school in Röthenbach a.d. Pegnitz at Diehl Metall

A long tradition will be continued this year: Fifteen schoolchildren of the Geschwister-Scholl grammar school exhibit within the P-seminar art their works of art. The young people’s creativity has been required to the topic “Poetry Art”. Based on poems or quotations the students created their pictures.

At the beginning of the seminar raw materials such as copper granules and brass chips had been provided to the schoolchildren by the company Diehl Metall. Afterwards the young people had been incorporated these raw materials in their pictures. Thus, these Raw materials result in decorations, dials, eyes, jewellery and much more. These works of art can be admired for one year in the rooms of the headquarters of Diehl Metall in Röthenbach a.d. Pegnitz.

Uwe Schmidt, managing director of the SMH, has introduced the common project some years ago. Since that time it is tradition that the schoolchildren of the grammar school in Röthenbach receive raw materials from Diehl Metall at the beginning of the academic year to process these materials in pictures. The students choose their own topics to design their works of art. Uwe Schmidt has opened the vernissage and wished the schoolchildren good luck with the presentation of their works of art. The mayor of Röthenbach, Klaus Hacker, who also visited the art exhibition at Diehl Metall, subsequently joined the wishes.

To get an idea about Diehl Metall the students were allowed to participate at a factory visit after the presentation.
