Diehl Metall Schmiedetechnik produces die-forged parts in an integrated production process, which ranges from in-house prematerial production to the finish-machined product. In this way, we can ensure the quality of our forgings during all production stages.

    Diehl Metall Schmiedetechnik produces die-forgings according to customer-specific quality criteria on fully automated forging lines. The production portfolio encompasses a multitude of copper alloys as well as aluminum, and a weight spectrum ranging from 10 g to 35 kg. 

    Besides series production of conventional die-forgings, we also specialize in sophisticated solutions, such as the manufacture of hollow forged parts (forgings with multi-directional cavities). This process is often used in the manufacture of water meter housings.

    Diehl Metall Schmiedetechnik has a diverse range of machinery, including CNC machining centers with integrated measuring technology and inline quality control. 

    Besides raw forged parts, we also offer machining services for our products. In particular, we are able to machine special alloys, such as lead-free or low-lead materials, with high precision.

    Die-forged parts – A deeper insight

    Depending on the component, the forging process requires a billet which is optimally adapted to the die-forged part. The billet is initially heated to approx. 700°C before entering the forging press. Diehl Metall Schmiedetechnik uses both spindle as well as eccentric presses with a pressing force of up to 10,000 kN. Depending on the part geometry and size, forging is carried out in one or several stages. Even several components can be forged in one process step.

    Right from the design phase, Diehl Metall Schmiedetechnik works together with its customers to develop specific solutions for achieving functionality, forgeability and quality at market-oriented production costs.

    By means of an in-house Research & Development Center, complete with laboratory, we are able to provide our customers with full support as early as the product design phase and during the production process. This includes material selection suited to the application as well as optimized forging design.

    A slice of independence with our in-house Tool Center

    Our in-house Tool Center allows us to carry out all required steps at our company – from CAD design to the finished tool. In this way, we can produce new tools or make changes to existing ones at short notice. This leads to clear advantages for the customer:
