Diehl Controls is expanding in Europe: In November 2022, the company signed the contracts for a new plant in Braşov, Romania. Construction is set to begin in early 2023.
With an additional production facility in central Romania, Diehl Controls is continuing to expand its position in the European market. After many months of research and intensive analysis of potential locations in Eastern Europe, Braşov got the nod. This city, with 250,000 inhabitants, is already home to several international companies, including a number of Diehl Controls’ customers. As well as this, Braşov has very good infrastructure and a solid dual education system. “Diehl Controls is on a growth curve. Above all, we would like to consolidate our position in Europe. Our new Braşov plant will play a big part in this because it ticks all the boxes for further expansion” says Josef Fellner, CFO of Diehl Controls. Overall, Diehl Controls will be investing 40 million euro in the 18,000-square-meter plant over the coming years and will create an initial 200 new jobs. By the end of 2027, it is expected that over 600 people will be employed with Diehl Controls Romania.
Diehl Controls strengthens its European presence
On site, Diehl Controls is working together with project developer CTP Romania who will construct the plant according to specific technical, commercial and legal guidelines, and then lease it to Diehl Controls. The contract between Diehl Controls and CTP was officially signed on November 22, 2022. The next step involves the beginning of construction works in early 2023, with Diehl Controls hoping to commence operations in mid 2024. Josef Fellner emphasizes: “At Diehl Controls we are looking forward to a growth in global demand. Our new plant in Braşov will allow us to meet this demand as best we can, and will ensure that we remain the reliable partner for our customers. This will secure our competitive edge and set us up for a successful future.”
