Achievement in the field of galley cooling rewarded by aircraft manufacturer

Diehl Aviation has won one of this year’s three Airbus Innovation Awards. During a ceremony held in Montreal, Canada, on October 24th, Klaus Richter, Chief Procurement Officer and Jörg Schuler, SVP Cabin Procurement of Airbus presented the trophy to Harald Mehring, Diehl Aviation CCO.

This award recognizes Diehl’s achievement in designing a new galley chiller for commercial aircraft, covering the complete way from the first ideas through conceptual studies and prototypes to serial production readiness.

Diehl Aviation is in charge of designing and manufacturing a new SFE (supplier furnished equipment) galley air chiller for the Airbus single-aisle and long-range programmes, that is customizable on individual cooling demands by variable fan speed and cooling performance. Further criteria are noise and weight optimization and flexibility in galley integration. With the new Diehl Aviation air chiller, airlines and operators are able to optimize their individual cooling operation profile.

Diehl Aviation is a division of Diehl Stiftung & Co. KG and combines all aviation activities of Diehl Group under one roof.
