Company and Works Council agree on framework for restructuring measures

Diehl Aviation, a leading supplier of cabin interiors and aircraft systems as well as related services, this week successfully concluded negotiations of management with labor on the implementation of a concept for the future. Negotiations had been ongoing since November 2020.

At the time, the company had presented its planned repositioning, together with a concept for the future which, in addition to restructuring, also comprises an innovation offensive. The announced restructuring includes an adjustment of the number of positions at the German locations of Diehl Aviation and therefore required negotiations of management with labor. An agreement has now been reached on all issues.

This agreement covers a reconciliation of interests, a master social compensation plan as well as associated works agreements. The successful conclusion of negotiations of management with labor thus enables the company to confidently handle the current pandemic-driven crisis and to reposition itself for the future in a sustainable way.

The concept for the future presented in November provided for a reduction in the number of employees in Germany. The target value was specified in the negotiations of management with labor. By mid-2025, Diehl Aviation intends to retain around 3,100 employees at its German locations. Compared with the number of employees last summer, this represents a reduction of around 25 percent at the German locations, all of which will remain.

Due to measures already successfully implemented, such as an ongoing voluntary redundancy program, Diehl Aviation has already been able to significantly reduce its total workforce since spring. This reduction in the workforce has already been implemented to a large extent, and is mostly done in a socially acceptable manner.

Diehl Aviation is a division of Diehl Stiftung & Co. KG and combines all aviation activities of Diehl Group under one roof. In the aviation industry, Diehl Aviation - including Diehl Aerospace (a joint venture with Thales) - is a leading system supplier of aircraft system and cabin solutions. Diehl Aviation currently has around 5,000 employees worldwide. Its clients include leading aircraft manufacturers Airbus (both airplanes and helicopters), Boeing, Bombardier and Embraer, VTOL aircraft manufacturers as well as airlines and operators of commercial and business aircraft.
