Site expansion strengthens Diehl's presence in Nyírbátor and creates over 300 new jobs
In an official ceremony on November 13, Diehl Aircabin – one of the five business units of the Diehl Aerosystems Division – and their subsidiary Diehl Aircabin Hungary Kft., inaugurated a new production hall for the manufacture of aircraft parts at their site in the Hungarian city of Nyírbátor.
Taking part in the ceremony were the Hungarian Economics Minister Mihály Varga as well as a delegation from the Nyírbátor city council, and the mayor Antal Máté. Also represented were firms from the region, including Kész Építő Zrt., the general contractors responsible for this construction project. Guests were welcomed by Rainer von Borstel, Member of the Executive Board at the Diehl Stiftung and Spokesman for the Division Board at Diehl Aerosystems, as well as Klaus Jabs and Reiner Edel, COO and CFO at Diehl Aircabin respectively.
In the new hall, which covers approximately 6,600 m2, Diehl Aircabin Hungary manufactures components for the Airbus A380, among other things. After breaking the ground in November 2014 and an around 9-month long construction period, production began in August 2015. The new building and extra production space the building offers allow not only an expansion of the product range but also an increase in production volume. Similarly, it is expected that the number of people employed at Diehl Aircabin Hungary by the end of 2018 will have more than doubled, from currently about 330 to approximately 675. This ensures Diehl Aircabin retains its reputation as one of the most significant employers in the region, and in the long-term strengthens the industrial site in Nyírbátor.
