On Girls Day at Diehl in Überlingen, 20 students at ages between 12 and 18 from the Bodensee county won insights in technology professions such as “Electronic Specialist for Equipment and Systems” or “Industry Mechanic”. With the objective of arousing their enthusiasm for technical occupations, the companies Diehl BGT Defence and Diehl Aerospace welcomed interested girls for the 13th time. Craftmanship was required for practical exercises in the Technical Training Center. Supervised by apprentices, the astute girls, not only made light-emitting diodes blink by soldering resistors. They also proved their dexterity by engraving their names on bottle openers. During a tour of the electronic production facilities, the visitors learned that technology is no longer a male preserve. On the occasion of the Aircraft Interiors Expo, Diehl Aircabin has won the renowned aviation-prize Crystal Cabin Award with its innovation “iPanel”. The company received the award in the category material & components. Electronic components are integrated into the “iPanel”, allowing for savings in both weight and installation effort. The electrical components and wiring for lighting run inside rather than outside the panel. The iPanel was developed in cooperation with the business unit Diehl Aerospace. The Crystal Cabin Award is the only international award for excellence in aircraft interior innovation. Read more

Diehl Aerosystems, a leading partner for aircraft cabin design and integration, as well as a first tier supplier for avionics solutions, has achieved a major success in the business jet market. Bombardier has awarded two companies in the Diehl Aerosystems organization with contracts for the development and production of a wide range of cabin interiors products for its Global 7000* and Global 8000* business aircraft. The Diehl Aerosystems work package for Bombardier’s aircraft consists of the periphery package for the aircraft cabin – including the baggage compartment – with high-end surface treatments and optimized acoustic behavior (Diehl Aircabin). As part of the deal with Diehl Aerospace, cabin illumination is included with all-LED technology, based on a mood lighting concept for improved passenger comfort.
