Compared to open-die forging, the workpiece is almost completely enclosed by the tool in the drop-forging process. The production of drop-forged parts made of brass is assigned to the production process of warm forming within the massive forming. In comparison with massive cold-formed workpieces, warmed-formed parts are advantageous because of their significantly higher degree of forming. Moreover, they offer – compared with chipped components – the advantage of much lower material input and at the same time much more complex shapes can be produced.
The functionality as well as the production reliability of the finished product is determined in the stamping technology. At this point the course for all further steps is set. This is why we focus on uncompromising precision in our stamping technology due to our highly-developed automation process using optical and electronic monitoring. With its ultra-modern stamping machines and its own toolmaking and engineering, Diehl Metall provides precision stamping technology for sophisticated precision stamped parts in large numbers. Of course, we deliver our precision stamped parts with any full- or partial-surface plating that is required by our customer.
Special surface coatings solve the conflict between the technological requirements for the base material and the conditions of use in many cases. Diehl Metal Applications offers an entire electroplated, thermal and metallurgical finishing process as well as its combination. An economic use of high-quality plating with precious metals can be achieved with modern selective techniques. Because of appropriate plating technologies, the precious metal used for contact and bonding surfaces is substantially reduced. Moreover, the DMA is able to detach gold targeted from surface elements and win it back. This precious metal-recycling-process MEGER® was awarded the innovation price of Berlin-Brandenburg.
Different strengths of diverse materials can be used in a targeted way in the overmolding and assembling technology. Due to an optimum material selection, products of high quality result.
