Company Factory of the Year

World-class production

Fully automatic, highly efficient and yet flexible – these are the characteristics of our manufacturing department that impressed the jury: the Wangen site is the overall winner of the renowned industry benchmark competition for the “Factory of the Year/Global Excellence in Operations (GEO) 2015”. The competition jury, consisting of leading representatives from industry and research, viewed the success of our manufacturing department in Wangen in optimizing all dimensions of the core process of printed circuit board assembly as a considerable strength.

The production lines are monitored continuously online, and an IT system documents the system statuses and any performance losses or breakdowns.  Between 2011 and 2014, the Wangen plant achieved an impressive rate of improvement: finished product handling increased by ten percent and the generated value by 95 percent, while power consumption was reduced by 13 percent.

The competition

The “Factory of the Year/GEO” competition is open to manufacturing companies from all sectors with more than 100 employees. The winners are selected in two stages. The first round consists of a written procedure, in which typical performance data is collected. In the second round, auditors visit the best 20 percent of participants. Finally, the competition jury selects the winners. In addition to the overall winner, they also select winners in categories such as large-scale production, production systems and change management.
