The AMR technology of SAPPEL do Brasil (Radio system + GPRS Receiver Battery) is doing the monitoring of the water points that supply the entire structure of the Rio+20 event.

The Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, being held from the 13th until the 22nd June in the city of Rio de Janeiro - Brazil, will contribute to the sustainable development agenda for the next decades. The conference’s goal is to renew the political commitment to sustainable development through the assessment of the progress in this field as well as the gaps in the implementation of decisions taken by the major summits on the subject beyond the treatment of new and emerging issues.

The AMR project of SAPPEL do Brasil is being a success at Rio+20. The aim is to show that it is possible to control the consumption of water, avoiding losses and intelligently managing data for monitoring.

To demonstrate the ease of this technology, you can access the data of the water consumption of the entire event in real time via the webpage www.cedae.com.br. Just clicking the banner that is on the bottom of the page you will access the data of the three meters installed in the selected control points: the Museum of Modern Art - MAM, the Athletes' Park and the Rio Centro.

The technology of SAPPEL do Brasil (radio system and concentrator) is compatible to work with other meter brands on the market, and after the remote system had been installed in the field, the data flowed smoothly over the GSM network of the local operator.

On the spot, the metering solution Izar DP + GPRS Receiver Battery is configured for one reading per minute and two data transfers per day to a FTP server (Internet) the day of all three monitoring points. These readings are sent to a webservice in Sao Paulo that provide the data access through the web site.

It is a privilege for SAPPEL do Brasil to be part of an event of such importance, which once again shows the efficiency and transparency of its technology, reaffirming its mission to provide the best tools for the responsible use of natural resources of our planet for ecological sustainability, economic efficiency and to our customers.
